Related InformationWaupisoo PipelineThe proposed Waupisoo Pipeline will transport crude oil from Enbridge Athabasca’s Cheecham Terminal to refiners and upgraders in the Edmonton area. In December 2006 Enbridge Athabasca (Enbridge) received EUB approval for construction of facilities at the Stonefell Terminal near Bruderheim, Alberta. The facilities for BA Energy included tankage and pipeline connections for BA Energy’s Heartland Upgrader. The proposed Stonefell Project was designed to provide tankage services and pipeline transportation for the upgrader’s feedstock and product streams. In late February 2008, Enbridge signed a new commercial agreement with BA in which Enbridge agreed to delay the construction of the BA facilities at the Stonefell Terminal while discussions with BA Energy on future plans take place. Enbridge is currently winding down construction activity at the site with the exception of tank construction, which will continue until the end of May. Enbridge will only resume construction after BA Energy confirms plans for its facilities at the Stonefell Terminal. BA Energy has provided Enbridge with financing to cover all costs of the terminal and lateral projects, to date, including the completion of the tanks. Enbridge retains ownership of all parts of the project. The pump station may be expanded later as a pump station on the Enbridge Athabasca Waupisoo system. Enbridge is working for and with our customer, BA Energy, to ensure site safety and security will be maintained during the construction delay, including the preservation of the partially completed facilities. |
