CSR Policies
A variety of other policies provide direction for specific activities that are part of Corporate Social Responsibility. Enbridge business units have Environment, Health and Safety policies that are appropriate to their operations. Enbridge Inc. also has a corporate Environment, Health and Safety Policy. A key environmental focus is climate change. Enbridge is a participant in Canada’s Climate Change Voluntary Challenge and Registry (VCR). Enbridge Gas Distribution and Enbridge Pipelines (Saskatchewan) have received Gold Champion Reporting Level awards from the VCR, and Enbridge Pipelines has received a Silver Champion Reporting Level award. A copy of the current Enbridge Inc. report is available at the Voluntary Challenge and Registry. The need to implement an effective corporate framework to manage greenhouse gas emissions against a background of policy uncertainty resulted in the establishment of the Enbridge Climate Change Task Force. The task force has a planning and coordinating role, and is developing the foundation for the company’s role in the climate change challenge. Enbridge also has an Indigenous Peoples Policy to guide the nature and scope of its relationships with indigenous peoples, wherever the company interacts with them. The policy will help set consistent practices based on corporate policy and ensure consistency with other core corporate policies. It will also provide guidance for project teams and business units. |
