Christina Lake Lateral Project

Project Overview
Enbridge Athabasca has been developing the Christina Lake Lateral Project to support expansion of the Christina Lake enhanced oil facility, which is operated by Cenovus Energy.
The Project includes:
- changing the service of the existing 140,000 barrel (bbl) tank at the Kirby Lake Terminal from bitumen blend to diluents;
- reversing the flow of the existing eight-inch-diameter Line 34, between Christina Lake facility and Kirby Lake Terminal and changing the product transported from bitumen blend to diluents;
- replacement of associated pumps and meters to accommodate service change at Kirby Lake;
- construction of a new terminal (called Sunday Creek Terminal) near Enbridge Athabasca’s Christina Lake station, with two new, 375,000-bbl bitumen blend tanks and all necessary associated piping, manifolds and pumps;
- construction of a 26-km, 762-mm (30-inch) diameter, pipeline from Sunday Creek Terminal to Kirby Lake Terminal, running adjacent to Enbridge’s existing pipeline.
